The Butterfly House
Built circa 1970s and altered through several rounds of renovation, this tropical home had become a patchwork of different wall construction types, roof forms and disconnected spaces. Its distinctive butterfly roof remained central to its character, but the arrival, internal layout and relationship with the outdoor areas no longer worked as one coherent home.
The proposal carefully works with the existing structure while reorganising the entry, kitchen and living areas, master suite, laundry and study. It also considers car accommodation, roofing and drainage alongside the internal changes, bringing the home’s many layers into a clearer and more functional whole.
